STA challenge to help end human trafficking
The Driven-to-Defend Challenge is designed to engage state trucking associations (STAs) in a friendly competition to amplify a collective impact in the fight against human trafficking. Through training, outreach and awareness building, the challenge is meant to motivate associations to take action in 2026. By further equipping their members to recognize and respond to human trafficking, these engagement actions will showcase the trucking industry’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.
We intentionally chose Jan. 1 as the kick-off for this challenge, because January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month (NHTPM), a time when many individuals and companies choose to bring awareness to the crime of human trafficking and the over 50-million people living in modern-day slavery. But the horrific realities of human trafficking don’t end when January is over. This challenge is a seven-month initiative, bookended between NHTPM and World Day Against Trafficking on July 30, where you choose how you would like to engage from the engagement areas below. Only one item in each category needs to be completed to earn a badge.
As a state trucking association, you, in particular, have an incredible opportunity to reach thousands of frontline workers with TAT’s message, which is proving to be an effective way to prevent and interrupt human trafficking. Check out some of TAT’s success stories and Harriet Tubman Award winners –- stories of real lives that were positively impacted through someone in the transportation industry knowing how to spot signs of human trafficking and caring enough to make a simple phone call.
Thank you for being part of the Driven-to-Defend Challenge!
