Youth on Transportation Safety Month
Join TAT to educate youth about human trafficking in May 2025
TAT’s Youth on Transportation Safety Month will unite transportation stakeholders to leverage their unique position in communities across North America for a campaign dedicated to educating youth about human trafficking in age-appropriate ways and equipping them with tools to protect themselves and their peers from exploitation. The month will spotlight the year-round goals of TAT’s Youth on Transportation Initiative, which was recently awarded the USDOT’s Combating Human Trafficking in Transportation Impact Award for 2024.

Why transportation?
Survivors of trafficking have shared a wide variety of ways that their victimization intersected with passenger transportation, including transit, motorcoach, school transportation, taxis and rideshares, etc. Furthermore, because of the direct correlations between factors that increase vulnerabilities to human trafficking and other systemic issues of racism and poverty, community transportation providers are regularly interacting with more at-risk individuals by virtue of the population demographics that are most dependent on their services.
